Our (Barbara, Andreas & i) flight to Taormina was late at Saturday evening and it went from munich. So we drove after a nice breakfast by car to munich airport. It was an easy and nice trip, because we had much to talk about! Simple Minds, of course :-) At late evening we arrived at Catania Airport, but it was Saturday night and we need two hours from Catania to Taormina, Villa Angela. There was a party, or better a show with “Diesel Jewellery” but we arrived at midnight and the party came to an end. We saw all the band members from Simple Minds leaving but it wasn’t important. We met Tina & Sandra in front of the hotel and Lourdes in the hotel (i shared again the room with her) and we had a last drink together at the terrace from Villa Angela! Everything was okay, we were “HOME”!!! :-)
This time it was beautiful weather in Taormina and the Mt. Etna had started with activities just at Saturday morning, but it wasn’t dangerous, you could only see in the night a red “tongue” at the Mt. Etna! Marvellous!!!!
On Sunday morning we had a beautiful breakfast and after that we went down to Taormina and visited the Teatro Greco! It was a very lazy Sunday and after having diner we went again to the Teatro Greco to see the “Best Live Band From The World” in the “Most Beautiful Place At The World”! And after two nice support acts the show with the Simple Minds starts - and this show was really a blast!
The band gave their best to the audience and the crowd thanks with singing, dancing, jumping and “having fun all the time”! During “Home” Jim jumped from the stage and walked through the crowd to the top of the seats area - it seemed he wanted to say “Hello” to everyone!!! It was wonderful and i think everyone in the crowd loved it!
The set wasn’t “spectacularly” - they played 19 songs, but they played it from their bottoms of their hearts!
It was a real pleasure to be there in Taormina, many fans from all over the world were there and i met many familiar faces!
The Teatro Greco was a “seating place”, but after the first tunes from “Stay Visible” everybody goes up from the seat to dance! So i did it as well, but someone behind me asked for leaving my place, at last i stand in front of the F.O.H. mixer and had a lot of space to dance and a beautiful view to the whole stage with all the lights and surroundings! But i was to far away from the stage to make good pictures, but Lourdes did many! (Thanks!) and i put these at this place!
After the incredible show we talked to all the familar faces and went down into the city of Taormina to take a drink in a irish pub!
Barbara and Andreas felt tired after the first beer and this marvellous show and left the pub, but Lourdes and me, we weren’t tired, we were full of energy, so we took another guiness and felt happy to be together at this beautiful place.
Late after midnight, when we were back in Villa Angela, i couldn’t sleep, the place is too beautiful to spend the time with sleeping. I sat at the Terrace, looked at the red tongue with lava going down from the Mt. Etna, listened to the recording from Taormina and wished that this night would never end...
