After the show in Mainz there was a day-off. The next show in Munich was at Sunday. And that was very good because the weather hadn’t changed. It was still a hard wintertime in Germany with many snow!
The distance between Mainz and Munich are a few more than 400 km, and normally you need max. 5 hours to drive by car. But at this terrible Saturday i needed more than 12 (!)hours!!!!!
It was the most bad journey ever!
The only thing, that kept me alive and gave me a good feeling was the expectation for another great Simple Minds concert! So i kept my patience and drove meter after meter and hour after hour. And at last, i arrived at my hotel late in the evening at Saturday.
In Munich the snow had made big problems for the traffic, most of the streets wasn’t usable and it was difficult to get into the city. But i found a way and was at the venue around 3 pm. Another fan, called Thomas, arrived as the same time and so it wasn’t boring to wait, but it was cold. Very cold, but the security man was nice and he gave us a cup of hot coffee! Thanks for that!
At the end it has been worthwhile to wait for hours in the cold snow because I got a place in the middle of the front row!
The show was great! And for me it seemed that the crowd was thankful that the Minds really arrived in Munich and the Minds were thankful that the crowd arrived at the venue!
We all had a very good time during the show and everybody loved it to be there!
Jim Kerr was in a very good mood that night and he did many interaction to the crowd, sometimes i thought i was his “special ‘sparring-partner’” at this night, because he did often sung and joked with me. It was amazing! But don’t get me wrong. I know that this interaction from Jim is normal at the shows. He sometimes pick up someone of the crowd to sing with him/her! And in Munich i was the one he chose. Not more! But nevertheless it was very nice! And it was a little bit like a special excuse or better compensation, for the terrible journey. :-)
So it was another worthwhile trip and show and i would do it just again, also in the same way!
