The journey from Pordenone back to Milan (nearly 5 hours) wasn’t that funny. It was the ride for the last show for a ”long” time, and 5 hours in a train can’t be funny! For this last show i was very late at the venue and many people were already at the doors, normally is 5:30 pm not to late to get a place in the front row, when the show starts at 9 pm, but here in Milan it was too late. At last i got a place in the middle of the third row. It was ok. But the Milan people are not so friendly like all the other Simple Minds fans i’ve met around Europe. For me it seemed they think the Simple Minds were their own band. Strange in my opinion, very strange!!! First i had a place in the second row, but there was a couple, she was on my right site and he was on my left and they pushed and punched me all the time, before and during the show, i gave up and made a step back. They directly closed the hole. Then i had a group with Italian guys on my side and they talked nearly the whole show, during “Dolphins” i had to shout at them to stop talking! - That's not the way to pay respect to the Simple Minds, and these want to be the 'real' followers? I don't think so!
But all these things couldn't pull me down. I enjoyed the gig by myself. I had much fun at all, and at last i met a few very nice followers. I met Paola (Pollon) and some of her friends and we had much fun after the gig.
Fred, a crewmember gave me the setlist after the show and because of my last gig for a while i wait with Paola and her friends for some autograph at the bus. Eddie came out at first and he was nice as always! Really, i asked not only for the sign but also for a photo, and he was friendly and posed for it. The next was Jim and he was really very friendly. As i asked for the sign he asked me, how many gigs i’ve seen, i said 20 now, and he asked me again, “20, you’re crazy!” “No, not really, only a little bit!” i said, he laughed, said: 'ok, only a bit, you’re nice! Thank you!' and suddenly he put his arms around me and i got a kiss at my left and right cheek! And he posed for the Photo as well! Then Charlie and Mel came out and they signed and posed for the Photo too! Thank you Simple Minds for this wonderful end of a marvellous Black & White Tour!
It was cold, there were rainy days and days full of snow, sometimes it was sunny, i’d travelled thousands of kilometres and had to wait ‘days’ in front of closed doors, but there was not one minute which I would like to miss! Never! It was a marvellous, incredible experience and i‘m still excited before the next show!
See you and Thank You!
