On Thursday the 16/03/06 was the first show of the “hattrick” in Luxemburg in “den Atelier”, and thanks to Marc i could be there! If you want a really intimate gig you have to go to the Atelier in Luxemburg. This venue is really very small, there is maybe space for 1000 people. The front row held space for only 15 people! And i really found a place at this small front row, not in the middle, but just in front at Eddie, but it was like the middle. From my place i could read the setlist, because the space between band and crowd was small as well, maybe 30 centimetres. In Luxemburg should be “Born” the support band again, but the stage is too small to build up the stuff for two bands at the same time. So “Born” was a One-Man-Show on this night. Only the singer and his guitar!
In London Jim explained why they play in small venues during the ‘Black & White’-Tour, it’s because they want to be close to the audience to get in contact with them and see the reactions in the faces. And in the Atelier in Luxemburg they really could see every face and reaction from everybody in the crowd!!!! The show was marvellous! After a few minutes everybody, crowd and band was sweated and wet, and it was like a big great party. ! It seemed that the band and the crew had much fun, everyone was kidding about the very small place, but they did a very good 'job' this night.Again Jim was dancing and jumping all the time and again he had a big satisfied grin in his face. And Derek had a very hard job to save his microphone stand, while Jim shook a lot of hands with the crowd. And he was frightened when his microphone stand hits Doris and me nearly, but at last it was fallen down just between us. And Jim excused his mistake to us very embarrassed! They played the same set as in Barcelona but it wasn’t the same! The Minds were more enthusiastic, they were more than brilliant, they were excellent! I can’t find the right words to describe it. It was incredible!!!! After two hours of ‘rock’n’roll’ everybody, crowd and band was exhausted but happy, very happy, i think!
Doris, Vivane, me and a few more “followers” were waiting at the backdoor after the show, but when Jim came out he went very quick to the bus, he hadn’t any time, he said, but Charlie, Eddie, Mel and Mark took time for signing setlists or tickets or took photos with the fans. And i really got a smile and a signature from Mark!
After this, Doris and me went in a bar nearby, took a drink and chated about this marvellous gig. I was pleased for Doris that she got a ticket for the second gig in Luxemburg, 9 days later. It must become an other astonishing show in this ‘magic’ place!
(The security didn’t allowed to make photos, so i only have four pics to show, sorry!)
