The out-door-shows this year starts in Germany, in Bonn at the first of June. May you think it could be a nice summertime gig, but hey, we’re are talking about Germany, summertime is a rare season here. And at the first of June, the summer was far away. It was cold and rainy.
This day i was very late at the venue (the doors were already open, when i arrived), because of much traffic at the motorway, but i found a place in the middle of the second row behind Doris, Tina and Sandra.
The Netherlands band “Born” supported the Simple Minds again and it was again the feeling to be been “at home”, when the intro began and the Minds came up on the stage!
They played a whole set with 20 songs and has changed the songs a little bit, and played it with more “big hits” for the festival season, when not only “Simple Minds followers” would be in the crowd.
But i liked the set, because they played again a few of songs from the new album and the mix with the “big hits” was very pleased. It was a “high-speed-set” and only ‘Belfast Child’ gave the crowd a few minutes to breathe deeply.
The venue wasn’t sold out, but 6700 people were in a very good mood and made the show to another great highlight of the “Black & White-Tour 2006”! The Simple Minds were in a very good mood too and they looked not tired or exhausted, although they are on the road since more than 4 months. On the contrary, they looked more fresh and more relaxed than at the beginning of the tour. It was a great start of the out-door shows, and the Minds let us go home more hungry to the following shows for this summer!
Unfortunately my batteries were not completely charged and so “New Gold Dream” is missing!
