The next morning, after the gig in Bielefeld, I had to do my baggage ready to follow the Simple Minds for the next two weeks from Berlin to Winthertur and without coming back home. Seven shows in twelve days would come and I would make every meter by my own in my small car! The journey from Bielefeld to Berlin, almost 400 km, was shorter and easier than i was thinking about. And because I would spend the night with friends whom I would meet just on time to the show, I was very early at the venue. But Paola and another girl (sorry, i lost her Name) were already there.
It was still very cold in Germany, and waiting for hours in front of closed doors isn’t funny, but ... awaiting a place in the front row makes it easier, and with nice and “crazy” fans around, nevertheless it is mostly a funny thing!
When the doors finally opened i reached a place in the middle of the front row, and the waiting hours in the cold were forgotten immediately. My “travelling shoes” had brought me back home for one more time! :-)
In Berlin it seemed the Crew had much problems with the sound or other technical problems because the show started much later then the other days. But the crew is perfect like the band is and so, when the Simple Minds were finally onstage there was a perfect sound and show as normal. They started the set again with ‘Sleeping Girl’, in Bielefeld and Hannover ‘Sleeping Girl’ wasn’t at the setlist. I like this song as opener very much, so it was a warm welcome!
But at this Tour i loved every song they played, sometimes i couldn’t decided which song was my favorite at the current night. ‘Sleeping Girl’, ‘Stay Visible’, ‘Home’, Up On The Catwalk’, ... i loved them all and exact in the way and order the Minds played them!! After one more beautiful show my friends and i decided to wait outside at the doors, maybe we could get an autograph from the band, but it didn’t worked. The bus was miles away from the closed gate and the shout from my friend was gone with the wind and without a reaction of the Minds. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful show and we gone home with happy faces.
