The WORLD PREMIERE of the very new songs from the upcoming Simple Minds Album
“BLACK & WHITE 050505” was on 26th August in Bad Vilbel on radio FFH.
I’ve had the luck to win a ticket and what should i say...
It was a blast!!!!!!
I was meeting up there with Doris, Kerstin, Achim. Alex, Patrick and Susanne!
The weather was fine, warm and sunny and beside the studio of the radio station was a fair. When I came, about 6 people were there, so that I decided to eat something first, and when I came back I met the other 'Following Minders'. The crowd grew up and after a hour of waiting and talking at last the door was opened and the securities let us in. After a short but fast run i got a place in the first row, quite near to the middle, and also the other Minders got a place in the first row! Everything was perfect for the very first show!!!!!
At the venue i also met Babara and Andreas we've met in Torreveija and Avenches last year! We talked about the Minds, the new Album and of course of the following tour, so the next waiting hour flew away very fast!
At 19:30 was “SHOWDOWN” The Minds entered the stage and Jim said: “Hello, Hello, Hello” and a german welcome “Guten Abend meine Damen und Herren! We play some new songs, a lot of old songs and we gonna make a big noise”
They started with “Stay visible” and this song worked perfect for the show opener!
The Minds were in very good mood, Jim a little bit nervous about losing the words, but Charlie was smiling the whole gig and Eddie as well. Andy and Mel were often invisible, because of the dancing Jim or because of Eddie, who had his place in front of Mel.
Home is live a blast, Charlie’s guitar is great and Mel’s drums are perfect, especially at the end of the song The third song was “Different World” and this song is live also a blast, the new songs worked perfect with the old songs and i think at the regular tour we will hear a lot of the new songs!!!

With “New Gold Dream” the regular set was at the end and after a short break they are started again with “Stranger”. Eddie had many problems with his bass but he found the way and then it worked. “Stranger” is live a really good song but i’m repeating myself, the new songs are all live really good. When you love the new new album, i'm sure you won't be disappointed with the new songs played live!!!!!
During “Belfast Child” the crowd were very quiet and attentive. Nobody shouted or pushed, it was miraculous. Everybody felt only the music, but then Mel took us back in the reality of the world with his drums!
With “Sanctify Yourself” and 68 Min. of best performed live music the gig ends up. The Minds left the stage and were gone. It was a great concert and a big pleasure to see them playing live again. All the german newspaper wrote, that the Minds will get a big Comeback with the new album “BLACK & WHITE 050505” but we all know, they were never gone, ok, they were a little bit quieter and haven't these big sells with their CDs, but they were always touring and were live as good as ever. And the promise that Jim gave us at the beginning of the show, that they wanna make a big noise came true! They made a very big noise and they are more then back again. They are really alive and kicking!!!!!!
After the show Doris and Patrick were interviewed by a reporter of FFH, and at last like a “highlight” they sang “Home” as an A-cappella-version! Great! You rock!!!! :-)
We left the venue to eat and to drink something and to let end the beautiful evening with a comfortable together.
Hey, it was really nice to meet some new community faces and it was a pleasure to celebrate the WORLD PREMIERE with all of you. I hope we see us again in 2006!!!!!
