At Friday afternoon my next trip starts. I had to go to Hamburg-Lübeck airport to catch my flight to London and i travelled again with Barbara and Andreas. We arrived late at Stansted airport, but we had decided to stay at a hotel at the airport. On Saturday morning we goes by train to Saffron Walden, Audley End. It is a beautiful and very big venue. At the doors we had much trouble to get our tickets - thanks ‘ticketmaster’, it was the last time that we booked our tickets with you! But we were at the venue around two o’clock, so there was no problem, at last, to got a place in the front row!
It was a lazy Saturday afternoon with many friends and familiar faces around, we talked, had fun, did crazy things and talked... It was very nice with all the other fans around. Except the rain, but it wasn’t a heavy rain, it was easy and funny to hang around. Derek from the crew recognized me and offered the “jelly bears” back to the crowd (in Palermo, i gave the crew the jelly bears - it’s a joke and a mini tradition to give jelly bears to the crew!) but he asked the crowd to say thank you to me and that everyone only get one jelly bear! It was a big fun, but it worked, everyone in the crowd got a jelly bear! Lore and i decided, that the Simple Minds don’t need a support act anymore as long as Derek is a member of the crew. He can do the stand-up-comidian with the crowd!
The Simple Minds did a very good show. They were in a very good mood and joked a lot with the crowd. They played ‘only’ 15 songs, but these 15 songs they played very enthusiastic! It was really a good show and we loved it! During the show there was no rain, but after the last tune, just when the fireworks begun there was a big thunderstorm! Everyone got totally wet in a second. And because of this big rain we couldn’t find a taxi to the train station and we had to go by feet, we walked maybe an hour through the dark night. At the train station the last train to Stansted was canceled and there were no taxis anymore but we met two guys (sorry, i lost their names, they were fans and guests in the same hotel like us, maybe one of them is called Peter?!) and in this second a mini bus driver reached the station and Peter could persuade the driver to bring us to Stansted! I think that this driver was our very last chance to come to our hotel at this night! Thanks Peter and the driver!
